They are usually known as “house cats” or “domestic cats.” They are small carnivorous mammals from the Felidae family.
General description of a cat
The domestic cat has an average weight of about average 2.7-4.5kg, and its length ranges from 28 inches in males and 20 inches in females. Cats have a simple gut with a small intestine, I.e., only three times their body length. The skin consists of the dermis and epidermis that can regenerate and help to fight any skin infection. Cats are digitigrade, which means that cats move on their toes. Cats have large and well-developed brains that make them so brilliant. Their body has excellent elasticity because they are powerfully built animals. The jaw consists of 16 teeth on the upper and 14 teeth on the lower jaws.
They can revoke their claws, which means they will hide their claws back when not in use, but when required, cats will open their claws, and it will be twice the size of their hands; the claws of cats are formidable weapons. This claw spreading property is in all the Felidae species but not in the cheetah species. Cats have no nerve endings in the nails.
Cats are nocturnal and can see better at night due to a layer of guanine at the retina that makes them more sensitive. It causes the eyes of cats to shine at night. Pupil of cats can contract and extend on the basis of density of light, but cats are not so good at distinguishing colors. Cats have a third eyelid called “haw” .cat health also depends on the appearance of the haw. They do not have a good sense of smell at kittenhood, but they will develop a good sense of smell as they grow. Any problem in nasal passage will cause the loss of appetite. Cat can distinguish the smell of nitrogenous substances so well.
Cats Sense
Cats have an acute sense of touch because they have sensitive vibration stimuli when cats are touched on cheek hair, eye hair, eyebrows, and whiskers. Cutting the cat’s whiskers will make the cat incapacitated temporarily until whiskers grow back. Cats’ toes, paws, and nose is also very sensitive to the sense of touch.
Cats are much more responsive to the sense of hearing as compared to dogs. Cats have about 30 muscles in-ears for hearing that make the ears so sensitive. Cats can catch ultrasonic frequencies of about 85000 per second, which is much more than the ultrasonic frequencies of dogs. Cats enjoy acute hearing. Cats are nimble and agile, and they
Low slung bodies
Cats have low slung bodies, molded heads, and long tails. Longtails of cats help them balance when they move difficult paths, trees, and fences.
Hunting
Cats are naturally such good hunters. They can stalk their prey pounce them with sharp paws and teeth. This hunting process requires so much energy that only a cat has. Cats sit stationary for a long time and look at the prey, attack immediately in just a click of a second as the prey appears.
Cat human relationship;
The early origin of cats is hidden, but it is taught that there were two lineages of cats. One that appeared in Asia Minor as early as 6400 dispersed to northward and westward Europe. The other lineage appeared in early Egypt between 6400 and 1000 years ago. It was later introduced as early Egyptian gods and mummies in Egypt. Cats are very sacred animals for Egyptians because cats protected the land from rodents, and it made cats so valuable for them, so they started to domesticate the cats 4000 years ago. And this made the cat-human relationship so strong. Egyptians used to worship cats, made cat temples, and mummied them. Later on, humans started to love cats and domesticate them due to love and affection.
Communication;
Cats communicate with their owners or other cats differently, sometimes by marking on doors, furniture, trees. And different stuff with the help of the claws and sometimes by their waste. This scent will help cats to tell about their home range. Cats have a unique vocal repertoire of 21 different vocalizations like meowing, groaning, howling, hissing, or screening. So, no one can communicate better than a cat.
Primarily a cat communicates by meowing, and it is a sign of contentment and pleasure. Cats want the attention of their owners. Cats also communicate by body language. If a cat like you, it will come near you, sit on your lap, sleep with you on the same bed, touch your feet and lick your body.
But many times, a cat meow more often as compared to regular days. It may be a sign of some major condition, physical discomfort, pain, or any other problem of behavioural origin.
Diet
Cats are carnivorous, so they mostly eat raw meat by preying. Their rough tongue helps them to cats the last meat of the animal. But cats may also adapt to eat as their owners give them.
Special traits
One of the most prominent traits of cats is that they have a fine collection of facial expressions, vocal sounds, tail, and body posture because it tells about the emotional state and intentions of a cat. It is also a signal that tells whether a cat wants to increase, decrease, or maintain social distance. Cats have specialized scent glands on lips, chin, tail, and the sides of the head that tell if the smell I familiar or not.
Another remarkable trait of cats is that they are obsessed with self-grooming; about 3-4 hours in a day, a cat grooms itself. Their tongue has sharp and backward directed filiform papillae on the tip that help a cat to groom itself. Mostly cats groom themselves every time after eating a meal.
Domestic cats don’t roar, unlike loins and other big cats; instead, they “Purr.” It is a continuous low rattling hum. It makes them different from the Felidae family.
Behavioral problem;
Sometimes a cat finds it difficult to adapt to a new home and environment. Due to the addition of a new family member, a cat may feel insecure and sad. When cats are distressed, they will start urinating and defecating outside the litter box, and it will help them to mark their territory.
Cats are known as creatures of habit, and any change in environment or even changing the place of the furniture in a room will also be very stressful. Sometimes they will scratch the furniture, pillows, door to show stress.
Breed
Cats have much more breeds as compared to the time they were found. All around the world, there are different shapes, kinds, colors, and patterns of cats that divide them into different breeds. Two basic types of cat breeds are ;

Affection toward owners;
If the cat owner gives it good time and effort, they will have a secure bond. Cats do understand owners’ behavior, and they know whether their owners love them or not. Cats see their owners as real-life parents; if cats meow to you, it means they love you, trust you, and believe in you.
Cats have a bad reputation because they know that you love them, but cats don’t care; it is the same behavior a child sometimes has toward biological parents, but it does not mean that cats dislike you.
Showing love to a cat;
Cats show us love by meowing, kneading their paws when laying on us, and sitting in our lap and bunting(the way cats rub face cheeks with us). These all are signs that our cat loves us. We can show a cat that we also love them by giving them some time and love.
Give attention to cat;
Cats need special attention from the owner. So play with your cat by ball, or cuddle with it; you both can also share the bed to show affection. Sometimes it is challenging to understand cats’ behavior, but it is not impossible. We can know it by cat actions. It will tell you if it wants to eat, drink, play or cuddle.
Keep cats stimulated;
Cats like to nap a lot and stay at home, but sometimes when we home arrest our cats for a long time, it will make them irritated, so you can take them out of home for a walk or play a different kind of games with toys, string, ball, feather, tissues or rolled paper it will keep them busy. These kinds of fun activities will enhance your relationship with a cat.
Give a treat to cats
If you authorize your cat to go out and find food for itself, it will make them happy, but if you give a treat to your cat when it obeys, it will help you develop a good relationship with you.
